The Ibni Prize for mathematics, awarded every two years, distinguishes in 2018 two young mathematicians trained in Senegal.
Ibni Ibrahima Hamidine is born in Niger.
He began to in the University Abdou Moumouni of Niamey (Niger), then in the University Assane Seck of Ziguinchor (Senegal) under the supervision of M.S. Sambou and A. Yger. There, he defended his PhD thesis whose title is Currential approaches, intersection and division theory in a non archimedean framework. He is currently a lecturer in the University Assane Seck.
El Hadji Abdoulaye Thiam is born in Senegal.
He studied in University Cheikh Anta Diop (Dakar) with the supervision of M. Fall. He defended a PhD thesis entitled The effect of curvature on some functional inequalities. Now, he is a lecturer at the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in M'bour (Senegal).

The Ibni Prize was created in 2009 to honor the memory of Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh, mathematician and politician in Tchad, in order to perpetuate his engagement to deliver a high quality training to young African mathematicians.
It is now awarded by the International Center of Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) and the Foundation of the University of Orleans (France).
Every two years, one or two candidates are selected by a scientic committee, chosen jointly by the Société française de statistiques, the Société de mathématiques appliquées et industrielles, the Société mathématique de France and the CIMPA.
The funds are raised by a subscription.
