Scientist and entrepreneur - 4. Faten Hamdi: a well minded human surrounding is a good thing

The support of mentors and also the family is useful for the success of the project.

Faten Hamdi

"The beginnings are always difficult. You don't believe you will suceed.

On 14th July, my company will be 4 years old. I've come a long way. We are in a network, we don't feel alone.

And with the IRD programme I was well supported. There were always advisors, mentors, people to listen to us.

Family support is also very important. My thesis supervisor also believed in this project and really supported me.

Today I have no regret having entered the world of entrepreneurship. If I had followed the path of higher education I would not have such a large network. It is another path that is a bit more complicated, more complex, sometimes we are faced with failures, but when we overcome these obstacles, we feel very happy."

"Did you always thought that you would return to start a project, or did you only come up with the idea because of this PACEIM scholarship opportunity? What was your real motivation to return?"

Faten Hamdi

"I went to France to get a PhD, possibly for a post doc, to be able to become a university teacher in Tunisia.

From the beginning I wanted to go back to Tunisia. After how many years, I didn't know.

With this opportunity I had, maybe the return was facilitated. I no longer needed to compete to enter higher education. I already had an idea and I had accelerated the return because I already wanted to work on the legal framework of the company.

There was a motivation to return. I waited until I defended my PhD before I could go back and start making the project a reality."
